On February 28, 2022, the Chinese Consulate General in New York and the America China Public Affairs Institute jointly held the online symposium to commemorate the 50th anniversary of President Nixon’s visit to China and the issuance of Shanghai Communiqué. Chinese Consul General Huang Ping delivered a speech at the event. President of the America China Public Affairs Institute Fred Teng, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, President Emeritus of Asia Society Nick Platt, President of the U.S.-China Business Council Craig Allen, Chairman of the U.S. Heartland China Association Bob Holden, former acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton, Vice President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations Jan Berris, President of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations David Firestein and Director of The Carter Center’s China Program Liu Yawei attended the event.
