On May 20, Chinese Consul General in New York Huang Ping and his wife attended the "Tea for Harmony Cultural Salon" at China Institute in New York and delivered remarks.

Chinese people have created a unique aesthetic realm through tea sets, tea art, and tea ceremony and held the belief that people can make friends and discuss philosophy of life over tea. For thousands of years, as tea became one of the major goods along the ancient Silk Road, traditional Chinese values such as "harmony brings wealth”and “to pursue harmony and coexistence" were well spread and acknowledged to the the world. Both Chinese and American peoples are known for diligence, wisdom, fraternity and generosity. It has always been the first and foremost mission to promote mutual understanding and enhance appreciation and friendship between the two great peoples. He also expressed appreciation to Quanzhou, China Institute and China National Tourists Office in New York for bringing such great event to New York and providing a unique opportunity to touch on Chinese Tea Culture to the American People.
The Deputy Mayor of Quanzhou Municipal People's Government Mr. Gengcong Su, Co-Chair of China Institute Ms. Yue-Sai Kan and other 200 guests joined the event.
