On June 8th, the 46th Boston Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival opened in Boston. Chinese Consul General in New York Chen Li attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Chen was also invited to paint the eyes of the dragon boat.
In his speech, Chen pointed out that the Dragon Boat Festival is more than a test of strength—it is exchange of hearts and minds. It is not about claiming first place, but about moving forward together.
Guests attending the opening ceremony highly commended the Boston Dragon Boat Festival for its profound heritage and unique charm.
In addition to the exciting races, the opening ceremony was followed by showcase of the diverse Asian culture, the China National Tourist Office in New York launched its national tourism campaign, 'Hello! China,' to promote travel and cultural exchange. These festival events attracted more than 60,000 people to enjoy on site.
