The State of Pennsylvania and Fujian Province established sister province/state relations in 2009. Philadelphia and Tianjin (1979), Pittsburgh and Wuhan city of Hubei (1982), Harrisburg and Luoyang city of Henan (1985), Erie and Zibo city of Shandong (1985), Reading and Changzhi City of Shanxi (1992), Williamsport and Taizhou City of Jiangsu (2010) are sister cities.

In 2023, Pennsylvania's total trade in goods with China was US$20.6 billion, exports to China were US$3 billion, and imports from China were US$17.6 billion.
