The Revenant, which has just won three Oscars at the 88th Academy Awards, was confirmed to be coming to the Chinese mainland's big screens on March 18.

According to Bai Jie, who is in charge of film introduction at Beijing-based Alpha Pictures, Leonardo DiCaprio, newly crowned as best leading actor at the Oscars, will probably come to China for the promotion event.

The Revenant is based in part on Michael Punke's novel with the same title, inspired by the experiences of legendary frontiersman Hugh Glass in 1823.
