Fujian Tourism Presentation Held in New York City

As one of the fruitful activities featuring China-US Year of Tourism in 2016, Fujian Tourism Presentation was held on April. 26, 2016 at Intercontinental Hotel at Times Square of New York City.

Mr. Liang Jianyong, Vice Governor of Fujian Province of China, Mdme. Zhang Qiyue, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York, Mr. Markly Wilson, Director of International Marketing for New York State Division of Tourism, Mr. Xue Yaping, Director of China National Tourism Office in New York and around 200 trade representatives were present at the event.

Zhang made the opening remark by welcoming the delegation from Fujian and congratulating them for making great contribution to bilateral friendship. She emphasized the importance of China-US relations and briefed the audience of some remarkable figures in China-US business cooperation and personnel exchange, especially in the area of tourism. The economic and social benefits tourism brings are further emphasized.

Wilson mentioned the common natural, cultural and educational assets both New York State and Fujian Province have. He said as the No. 1 destination in the United States for international tourists, New York boasted $625 billion every year from tourist industry, with 1 of every 12 jobs involved in tourism.

Liang gave an over-all introduction of Fujian Province to the audience and talked in detail about the historical, cultural and natural resources it has, inviting more American friends to come and visit.

Congressman Joseph Crowley sent his congratulatory message to the event.

Songs and Dances as well as martial arts with Fujian characteristics are performed on stage. Ensued are tourism promotion activities and signing of tourism cooperation contracts.
