In 1942, Liao Shiyuan, Liao Mingfa's father, and his family took care of Charles Ozark after Charles parachuted to safety. During World War II, following Japan’s surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, 16 B-25 bombers from the U.S. Army Air Corps launched a raid on Japan. On their return journey, due to fuel shortages and other issues, Colonel James Harold Doolittle and his pilots had to bail out over China. The Chinese military and civilians bravely came to their rescue, creating a remarkable rescue story in the history of World War II.
